In 2009, prior to co-founding Unita Machinery & Droid Group, David Zhang, with education in Electrical Engineering, was enrolled into R&D department in a Taiwanese-owned wet wipes machine manufacturing enterprise in China.

He was then engaged in several significant breakthroughs in manufacturing technology of wet wipes that outperform any other existing wet wipes machines in its efficiency, flexibility and stability.

David’s outstanding technical background becomes the key ingredient that later turns Droid into a strong technology force behind innovative, trendy and quality global wet wipes brands.

In 2014, David became an engineer-turned sales consultant which allowed him to dig deeper into the mindset of wet wipes producers and gain a considerable market insight in the ever-changing customer demand.

As the market evolution of wet wipes industry began ramping up in China, David began receiving calls from start-ups reaching out to consult on how to set up a modernized wet wipes manufacturing premise, demanding for a turn-key project planning service ranging from selection of best-fit wet wipes machine, GMP- compliant clean room design, management of lean production to raw material supply chain optimization.

In 2018, wide discrepancies in operations inside the Taiwanese-owned enterprise have put the talents of David and his teammates to no good use. With the vision to help start-ups grow from “Zero to One”, empower veterans to leap from “Good to Excellence” in wet wipes business, David decided to join force with a bunch of colleagues with shared vision in engineering, production, and marketing department to set up their own wet tissue machinery manufacturing base in Zhengzhou, the city renown in China for its incomparable, best-in-class supporting techniques in precision engineering of machining components.

That is how Unita Machinery was born with the purpose to make wet wipes manufacturing an easier task: to tackle challenges faced by hundreds of domestic wet wipes producers that could have been addressed by a high performance, versatile and good-to-use wet wipes machine.

In the same year, DROID was registered as a brand with its ambition to earn global recognition for its best-in-class, China-Made wet wipes machines.
